12.17.15 by msedblog DAILY JOURNAL: State test scores drop on new assessment By Emma Crawford Kent Daily Journal TUPELO – As expected, Mississippi students’ scores on state tests dropped dramatically this year. The Mississippi Department of Education released the results this morning of state tests taken by third- to eighth-grade students in math and language last school year. The test was the first test that students took on the new, more rigorous Mississippi College and Career Ready Standards. Developed by the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC), the test was created by a multiple state consortium to be a common test to measure how well students understood the new Common Core State Standards. In Mississippi, these standards have morphed into the current Mississippi College and Career Ready Standards. Share this:EmailPrintFacebookLinkedInRedditTwitterGoogleTumblrPinterestPocket
